What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Purpose Financial Planning in Edinburgh is described by clients as a practice where trust, professionalism and straight communication set the tone. Andy Reynolds, named in nearly every account, is praised for giving time to understand family circumstances, tax positions, pensions and investment goals before suggesting a course of action. More than one review highlights quick replies and his readiness to stay reachable by phone after meetings, a theme that runs through longer-standing relationships. Accounts highlight his patience and meticulous approach when steering clients through complex retirement choices, including one case where a pension contribution error resulted in a tax rebate.

Others point to the lack of pressure and the openness about charges, with an initial consultation described as costing nothing. Business owners and new directors credit him with consolidating pensions and lightening the load of financial planning during busy periods. The overall tone is one of confidence in the advice given and appreciation for a personable, ethical manner that clients consider uncommon. Relationships lasting several years, and referrals from solicitors and accountants, come up again and again, ending on the recurring note of dependable, well-suited guidance.

Purpose Financial Planning came up as a highly rated IFA from my on line search. I sent a brief summary of my situation to Purpose FP and the same to a few others. Andy Reynolds responded the next morning, with some useful info and suggested a face to face meeting to better understand what help I needed. The others were slower to respond and one didn't respond at all. Andy made it clear that there would be no fee for an initial consultation and that fees would be proposed depending on the level of IFA help needed. With my wife, I met with Andy in his office - friendly, professional and engaging. He had done some research on my questions before we arrived and over an hour's discussion summarised very well the options we were considering, and the pros and cons of each. It was a most helpful discussion that helped me dismiss some of the more complex options I had considered. Andy concluded that he could certainly provide support and come up with a package of help, but thought the follow up actions could be done equally well myself, without incurring IFA's fees. He was not at all concerned that he had taken an hour out of his day without engaging us as clients or setting up fee earning work from the initial consultation. I was pleasantly surprised with the level of the discussion we had and Andy's willingness to offer an opinion on options. I had expected this would be a fact finding meeting and I would have been willing to pay for a written IFA report and recommendations. The hour's discussion turned out to be very effective in clarifying the issues and helping me make some decisions. Overall, I was left feeling that Andy Reynolds and Purpose Financial Planning were a trustworthy firm. This felt like a welcome level of integrity on their part that has avoided me spending on unnecessary professional fees. I would certainly contact him again in future.

My wife and I were introduced to Andy through my accountant when we needed to make some decisions on pension and investment planning. Andy was very professional while being genuinely interested in getting the best plans in place for our family. Andy is very knowledgable and transparent in communicating options and providing advice. We are new customers and take comfort in the fact we have someone we can trust looking after our family financial affairs. Andy is very attentive and proactive in communicating when actions need to be taken and as a family man himself, knows how important it is to us to plan not just for our own ends but to providing for our children as best we can. Thanks Andy, we look forward to long and prosperous relationship.

Andy Reynolds was recommended by my solicitor - and I can now understand why. From our first interactions, it became obvious that Andy is a highly competent/knowledgeable financial advisor, a highly ethical professional - and very personable. Not a combination one finds every day!

Purpose Financial Planning have been advising me on my retirement planning for some time. Andy Reynolds has always been proactive in his approach and his advice is timely and relevant. He is someone who I trust to provide the advice which is best suited to my requirements. Retirement planning is complex (perhaps particularly for an idiosyncratic person such as myself) and I rely on Purpose Financial Planning to provide me with the necessary advice to select the most suitable options.
