What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Amber River NI, formerly Johnston Campbell, draws on a long-standing client base in Belfast, with several reviewers describing a personal service that has remained consistent as the practice has grown. Long-term relationships feature prominently, including one client who has had finances managed for almost three decades and notes that attention and advice stayed strong throughout. A recurring theme is the value of annual face-to-face meetings and the feeling of being kept informed about ongoing work. Reviews time and again mention being treated as individuals rather than numbers, and the in-house range of expertise is singled out as a strength, with advisors described as supportive and approachable.

Sentiment is not uniformly positive. Some reviewers describe fees as unclear or poorly disclosed, and others recount frustration when contacting the firm about matters concerning former clients, saying they felt the enquiry was not treated as its responsibility. These accounts point to cost transparency and responsiveness to certain requests as areas where experiences diverged. The practice remains associated with continuity of care and personalised financial advice, while the less favourable accounts centre on clarity around charges and how third-party enquiries are handled.

Have worked with this company and it's predecessor Johnston Campbell for many years. Virtually every client we sent their way was impressed with the service. A small enough team for the service to be personal, but big enough to have a range of expertise in-house.

Annoying waste of time. Performative nonsense to grind you down before trying to raid your wallet. The extortionate fees are well hidden. Avoid.

Johnston Campbell has been managing my finances for almost 32 years. The company has grown considerably in that time, however the attention and advice which I receive is still as excellent as it was. I have no hesitation in recommending their services.

Receiving letters this four years from this company and phoned the phone number of the company who were listed as this person no longer lives at the property and hasn’t done this four years. Told they couldn’t help nor were they willing to contact the company who they act as an agent for as simply felt they thought it wasn’t there problem. Phoned the other company direct and got it sorted but certainly will not be recommending anyone give them any business if they are so unhelpful when you need a little help. Thank you
