If you want no nonsense advice from an extremely knowledgeable advisor, I reccomend him to you. He put us at ease, taking time to explain in layman terms, taking into account our advancing years, attitude to risk and health concerns, a portfolio for short term investment was suggested and forwarded to us for examination. There was a proviso that we sought tax advice from the country we now reside in. (Not the UK) We were more than happy with the portfolio, but withdrew our investment when faced with a punitive statement from the tax regime where we live.
