Purpose Financial Planning

Purpose Financial Planning came up as a highly rated IFA from my on line search. I sent a brief summary of my situation to Purpose FP and the same to a few others. Andy Reynolds responded the next morning, with some useful info and suggested a face to face meeting to better understand what help I needed. The others were slower to respond and one didn't respond at all. Andy made it clear that there would be no fee for an initial consultation and that fees would be proposed depending on the level of IFA help needed. With my wife, I met with Andy in his office - friendly, professional and engaging. He had done some research on my questions before we arrived and over an hour's discussion summarised very well the options we were considering, and the pros and cons of each. It was a most helpful discussion that helped me dismiss some of the more complex options I had considered. Andy concluded that he could certainly provide support and come up with a package of help, but thought the follow up actions could be done equally well myself, without incurring IFA's fees. He was not at all concerned that he had taken an hour out of his day without engaging us as clients or setting up fee earning work from the initial consultation. I was pleasantly surprised with the level of the discussion we had and Andy's willingness to offer an opinion on options. I had expected this would be a fact finding meeting and I would have been willing to pay for a written IFA report and recommendations. The hour's discussion turned out to be very effective in clarifying the issues and helping me make some decisions. Overall, I was left feeling that Andy Reynolds and Purpose Financial Planning were a trustworthy firm. This felt like a welcome level of integrity on their part that has avoided me spending on unnecessary professional fees. I would certainly contact him again in future.
