How much does Mortgage brokers cost in Leicester? (2026 price guide)

Many mortgage brokers charge no direct fee to the borrower, earning commission from the lender instead, though some charge a flat fee typically ranging from £300-£500, or occasionally around 0.3-1% of the loan amount for complex cases. Specialist mortgages, such as for self-employed applicants or adverse credit, often carry higher broker fees of £500-£1,000.

Fees vary depending on the complexity of the application, whether the mortgage is for a standard residential purchase or a specialist product like buy-to-let or bridging finance, and whether the broker has access to the whole market or a limited panel of lenders. Remortgaging is often cheaper to arrange than a first-time purchase.

Checking whether a broker is fee-free or fee-charging upfront, and confirming they are whole-of-market, helps ensure the cheapest overall deal rather than just the cheapest broker fee.
