What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Pet owners who took out cover for cats and dogs dominate the feedback, and their accounts repeatedly describe claims for veterinary treatment being settled without difficulty, meeting the cost of longstanding illness and accidents. Policyholders mention moving across from larger insurers and finding the process straightforward, with sums paid out said to be substantial enough to spare them thousands in fees beyond the excess and any policy limits.

A number of accounts credit the claims team handling animal treatment with maintaining contact throughout, and a complaints handler named Joseph is acknowledged for upholding a disputed splint claim, returning the money and apologising for an earlier letter. Running against that, several reviewers report refusals that rested on how a policy was worded, including out-of-hours treatment for a seriously ill dog that was not reimbursed, and problems getting through to the public liability team, where calls and messages went unanswered across several weeks.

The gap between what customers believed their cover included and what was actually paid emerges as the most frequent source of disagreement, alongside unease that witness statements were not gathered before a decision was made. Owners who felt dealt with fairly say they would insure their animals here again.

Terrible, refuse everything and anything, use clever wording so actual cover is extremely limited. Avoid at all costs. I will never use again or recommend.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR PET INSURANCE. I had a long battle with this company, essentially my dog requires an urgent operation and they cancelled my policy. The communication was awful and dragged out over 7 months. Although they have not taken responsibility for policy issues they have accepted the customer services was substandard. MORAL OF THE STORY- Invest your money into reputable company, even if they are much more expensive, there is a reason why you pay a premium.

Our dog got sick, vomitting blood very lathargic and trembling, all the books and internet searches said it could be serious and potentially life threatenting, so we tak him to vets, it was a sunday so out of hours and therefore a hefty fee, but what do you do? Luckily it was not life threatening and the vet provided medication etc with a total bill of well over £300. These jokers resufed to cover a penny of the fees, as the vet said the illness was not life threatening, my question is, how am I supposed to know that before I visit the vet? The sting in the tail is it took them over 4 months to resolve the issue, when they sent me an email they said if i did not respond in 10 days the claim would be cancelled, when I sent them an email it took on average over 4 weeks for them to respond. Needless to say, I will not be renewing my policies with them, and I would advise anyone that values good service to avoid this company!!

Reviews are usually given for very poor or excellent service and I would wager that the majority of reviews for insurance companies are negative. I have to say I had a very good experience with The Insurance Emporium so thought it was worthy of a good review. I’d been with one of the big insurers from when my cats were kittens. Sadly one of them passed away young but the boy kept trudging on. Unfortunately the premium went up consistently each year, starting at £25 a month but getting up to about £125 a month by the time he was around 12 years old. It got to the point where I decided to find a new insurer even though I risked losing cover for pre existing conditions, which thankfully were few. The Insurance Emporium premium was around £20 a month which I thought was great value, but I also thought it meant when I claimed I would be left regretting my decision. However nothing could be further from the truth. My boy made it all the way to 18 years old but sadly died in May. He was very unwell about 18months prior racking up a vet bill of over £4000 but the insurance emporium, after a bit of negotiation, paid up less the excess and 15% non payment on the policy. My boy made a great recovery and lived out the next 18 months very comfortably and loved by his family. He sadly fell ill again in May this year and this was one life too many for him and after spending thousands on vet bills, he passed away peacefully. Once again the Insurance Emporium were not only incredibly kind and empathetic on the phone and in correspondence, they also paid out again slightly softening the blow of losing a beloved pet. I want to thank everyone involved for making the process no harder than it needed to be and can absolutely recommend The Insurance Emporium.

Unfortunately I fell into the trap of believing that an insurance for a totally legal electric bike would cover the electric, only to call and say that it's no longer starting and be told the policy does not cover... The electric?! So before you decide to ensure your bike with the Insurance Emporium, don't. It would have been 1 star, but the customer support person was lovely and apologetic, so I decided to add a star for her.

When dealing with the company with regard to pet insurance the staff are very friendly and helpful. However when it comes to paying out for claims I find the company far from satisfactory. For any claim you are lucky to receive a third. There are excess upon excess. Read the policy terms very carefully before taking out insurance. All insurance companies may possibly be the same but in retrospect I would have been better never taking the policy in the first place. I have paid out in excess of £10,000 in cover and received a pittance back. Yes the staff are great but the insurance cover is not.

I guess people only leave reviews when they're not satisfied. My experience couldn't be more different then the ones plastered on here. I had a cat from birth who now has sadly passed. He had a lot of issues and accidents and all of it was covered by the insurance emporium with no hassle minus excess and limitation from my policy. I just want to thank the insurance emporium for saving me thousands and looking after our Castiel and always putting him first and settling all his bills without an hesitation. Thank you! Im sure his looking down at you guys and thanking you for giving him a chance at staying with us for a few extra month
